Last weekend: the ultra shorthand version

Jun 10, 2009 16:53

Fri: Spent much of the day cleaning followed by a whirlwind packing session shortly before Chris got off work. Drove down to Huntsville (or rather New Hope) to stay in a tent in a guy's back yard. Stayed up waaaay too late drinking beer. Celebrated ingenuity, heh ( Read more... )

*sigh* wish my weekends were something to look forward to... I usually dread them since I spend almost the entire 2 1/2 days alone........ I've got a few projects that are keeping me busy, but other than that, nadda. I think we may get to go see Cake Friday night, but Michael works the rest of the weekend, just like every weekend. Um... and the fact that everyone and their mamma and their mamma's mamma and their mamma's mamma's mamma and, well you get the point, goes to every festival or other type of thing going on... We were going to go to a simulcast of Tosca last weekend, but decided we wanted to see Up instead... Glad we did, 27,000 other people decided going to see Tosca was a good idea too. Makes it very difficult to do anything.

It seems as though there hasn't been a free weekend since Easter. It's fun for a while but eventually you crave a weekend where you can just sit around and do whatever. Maybe that's what Chris will want to do for Father's Day.

Cake FTW!

Alright, FTW? I've looked it up, but in my mind, the answers it gives for the meaning, makes no sense to me...

Your description of acquiring a taste for sour beer is.... enticing.....? LOL

Heh, even after you learn to appreciate it or even love it, the first whiff of one and you think, "ugh, do I really want to drink this?" We had a stinky muenster that had the same quality. It smelled like penicillin but tasted quite yummy. Only moderately funky and with a creamy texture like a brie. The beers are actually quite refreshing and if blended with fruit can even taste like sour candy. But yes, you must get past that first whiff of foot cheese and horse blanket, LOL!

speaking of that, thanks for having me over. i loved the sweet potatoes & vinaigrette. burned veggies have a good crunch. :)

my "it was alright" comment on the squash was mostly my estimation of the quality of the veggies themselves & had nothing to do with the preparation. my parents' garden has just spoiled me.

we'll miss you at the book discussion.

Heh, at least they were just sort of charred. I didn't really taste much burnt flavor, just the crunch, like you say.

Totally understand. We're used to publix squash so these were a shade above that at least. But there's nothing like homegrown. . . anything really!

I'll miss you guys, too. Also missing my 10 year high school reunion this weekend. Well, "missing" isn't really the right word, but I'm not going to be there, heh.

The only notification I got was an invitation via Facebook a long time ago. Seems it's just lunch at a pavilion on Monte Sano. Whatevs is right. ;)
