There's a lot of medical talk about antibiotics not being necessary for an ear infection, that you should just let the infection take its course, but IMHO that is malpractice, plain and simple. Most likely the studies were done by researchers that either don't have kids, or whose kids never had an ear infection, or are certifiably sadistic. [/pharmaceutical rant]
Did the doc give you anything topical for pain? Auralgan otic drops used to be prescribed for that, but it may no longer be on the market. And I always gave the girls Dimetapp Elixir, which also WAS a Miracle Drug, but is no longer. The composition of Dimetapp is nothing like it was back in the '80s...
