• Last weekend at church Reverend Meeks discussed his college years with me, because he had a similarly disaffected and intellectually unstimulating social experience. Apparently colleges were filled with pretentious, hedonistic dillweeds in the eighties, too.

I was rather surprised by that argument, especially since it was on a fairly old post of mine. I didn't expect to come home to a full inbox.

I was surprised mainly because this past year I've been hanging out with my friends Catherine and Cuban Pete, both of whom are very interested in philosophy and are actually capable of grasping concepts in philosophy of religion with ease even if they don't agree with them. It's always a bitter shock to come home or go online and be reminded that people like Catherine and Cuban Pete are very much the exception that tests the rule.
