Be grateful that they've announced their intention to squick America BEFORE the election. There may (it is a statistical possibility, you have to admit) have been a scientist somewhere considering voting republican. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find them and send them this video and explanation.

Has US media picked up on the comments and the facts about the study yet?

US media response: "what are these 'facts' that you speak of? We have not heard of such things before. Surely, they would anger the great Ju-Ju."

Doing a search on "Palin 'fruit flies'" turns up massive numbers of hits, including a piece in Scientific American - but not many hits in the MSM. Mostly science blogs, where everyone is probably comitted already. Slate has picked it up: http://www.slate.com/id/2203120/
One mention on MSNBC apparently:
"MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann reported this, and mentioned, specifically, (Drosophila) fruit fly research at the University of North Carolina (”which is not in Paris,” Olbermann noted) that has led to advanced understanding in autism research. (We think you’ll be able to find this easily, too.)" - http://blogs.dailytarheel.com/?p=812

its such a stupid thing to say, even if it wasn't offensive to scientists, what impact does it have on American spending what France does anyway?

My suggestion is get out of that country ASAP, before she becomes president!

Well the money was sent from the US to support/implement the results of this study? not sure, the info out there isn't particularly clear. Either way, the end result is a win for California, a state that is quite significant as US agriculture goes, especially for fruit crops, which is what they're protecting here. And yes, science is an international pursuit, and so it should be!

And yeah, I'm working on it. But I can't help be worried for them - its my country too.

McCain's been trying to deceive the public into thinking that a planetarium is nothing but an overhead projector since Debate #3. At least they've got a coherent message between the two of them.

AND the Slate article linked above shows that he considers DNA only useful for paternity tests and criminal cases!! c'mon!

McCain's also suggested a crackdown on planetaria as being examples of "foolishness".
Hmm - based on the idea that these gaffes give freudian insights, McCain must have an illegitimate, criminal child stashed away somewhere.
