In “Geoffrey’s Return” it’s implied that Richard and Geoffery don’t know each other, but then Richard says he’s been General Manager of the festival for eight years, and canonically Geoffery’s breakdown happened seven years ago. Has this ever been explained

That may just be a discontinuity... The similar one I always notice is that in S1, Cyril tells Frank Geoffrey's backstory as though Frank has never heard of him, but in S3 Frank talks about how he's been at New Burbage since it was done in tents, i.e. forever.
