In “Geoffrey’s Return” it’s implied that Richard and Geoffery don’t know each other, but then Richard says he’s been General Manager of the festival for eight years, and canonically Geoffery’s breakdown happened seven years ago. Has this ever been explained?
Also, based on Geoffery and Mae's relationship in this episode, I'm coming to think that she was the one--or one of the few--people who came to his aid after the breakdown. She's so competent, and he sees so pleased to see her, but not quite like he hasn't seen her in seven years. The way she doesn't question his sanity/immediately thinks to appoint him as Artistic Director makes me think she knows the medical nature of his temporary psychotic break, and that she's seen his work in the interim.
