I just finished reading The Baba Yaga’s Daughter by C.E. Murphy… it was divine. I felt like I was in an old library, hidden in a corner with a small lamp, devouring a leather-bound book I found inconspicuously mixed in with the fiction when it should have been shelved with ‘fact’. Like it was handwritten in script with ink and quill and the owner of the library either had no idea what they possessed or were clever enough to shelve it where it would be hidden in plain sight. The language was lush, the stories interwoven intricately enough to stand on their own but with small hints to broaden the back-story of the others. I highly recommend this book… either to ready fans who follow her work or as an excellent introduction to the quality of her writing and stories.
(Hi friends, yes, I know - I'm not dead!! But life has been crazy the past couple years with getting laid off -twice- finding new jobs, buying a car, moving, getting puppies, etc. etc. etc. So I've even barely been reading!! Thankfully this book came my way to get me back in the saddle and it was worth it!!! Don't worry, I have been reading posts, just not posting.)
