Ennis backed startled as the rag touched his bruised and burningly throbbing skin, and as he felt Jack's soft ministrations on his face, triggering an onrush of emotions in him at whose mercy he felt helpless. He couldn't remember the last time he had felt the caring touch of another person, and the need to just roll up and let go became nearly overwhelming.

Rejecting Jack's help almost harshly, he took the rag out of Jack's hand without a word, pushed it hard to his wound, and with fierce satisfaction he felt the sharp pain that drove off in an instant the memory of Jack's careful touch.

What a beautifully drawn description of how Ennis felt when Jack tried to comfort him after his fall in BBM. Your writing is hypnotic in its pace and tone; the text is wrapped with love and care, but unafraid to explore the shadows of loneliness. I am going to try to control my anticipation for more, but it will be difficult because this story is just so powerful. Thanks so much, Debra.

I'm glad that the stories I'm writing touches other peoples hearts because every story I write surely touches mine - like the movie that somehow captured me...forever, I guess...

Oh my goodness, there were so many parts I really loved. If I started quoting them all I'd end up repeating almost the entire chapter. But:

Ennis felt all of a sudden life kiss him, releasing him from his cold rigor.

I just love the idea of life kissing Ennis. It's such a sleeping beauty kind of moment in a way coming about by just looking at Jack.

I can't tell you how much I am enjoying your story. It is just wonderful!

Maybe it sounds a little bit weird - but the first scene - as Jack looked to Ennis and the camera captured Jake's beautiful eyes - impressed me so much I still can't believe how much... His gaze was so innocent, so pure but also full of curiosity, he was secretly coquetting with Ennis and it was so endlessly beautiful to see - so I guess that's where this "Kiss of Life" came from... ;-).

Such a wonderful chapter. I could feel the little bit of light entering their separate worlds of dark. Can't wait for more. Thanks - B

A ray of hope ! With only a look from those wonderful blue eyes, with those dark eyelashes, and "Ennis felt all of a sudden life kiss him, releasing him from his cold rigor" --> “Jack, I swear...,“ Ennis whispered. “I'll be back.“
So beautiful, mel, a poem of love at its beginnings !
Thank you !
