Reading over yours, I noted that I forgot "creek," "soft drink" and "hotcake" are perfectly acceptable in my neck of the woods.
Really, the greatest differences don't seem to be US/UK/Australia - they seem to be Warm vs. Cold. Consistently, if you don't have a basement/cellar, you probably have pillbugs/roly-polies - and the inverse is true.
of course, "smaller than a river" is a relative term, particularly here in .au... tell me about it - some places, anything smaller is really just a ditch.

I've used gutter my whole life, and I've lived in NYS and Ohio.
