Jerking in the shower?

As most of you would know by now, I am in the middle of editing my latest novel, Hunter's Dawn for publication. In a scene towards the end of the book, Jack takes a shower and my editor has suggested that I have an opportunity to up the sensuality of this scene if I wanted to. This made me cringe, because in this year alone, I have read at least a ( Read more... )

For my own stories, I tend to ask myself whether there's a REASON for so-and-so to be jerking off, whether in the shower or out of it. Like... did he just get off the phone with someone who got him all riled up and is he needed release? Or did his lover or whatever need to leave suddenly (like a doctor or EMT or cop or something who was on call), and leave him high and dry? Is he hot for his roommate who may or may not be interested and he doesn't want to make a jackass of himself by hanging around all hot and bothered when a shower and hand-session can solve the problem? LOL

In the end, it's YOUR story. If a wank in the shower seems out of place, respectfully decline your editor's suggestion. YOU know what's going on with your characters better than anyone else. :D

None of the above (all perfectly valid) reasons apply here. I'm thinking on how to sensualize without going the full monty so to speak. :)

Okay... so maybe something with the character touching the rest of his body. Slowly, while imagining his lover's hands on him?

Speaking solely for myself, there's something incredibly arousing about that. Like... little ghost-touches that the mind makes into more. It doesn't ever even have to involve the cock-touching, as far as I'm concerned. *grins* Sensual and sexual can be two very different things.

*shrugs* Other than that, dunno. But touching is never bad. LOL

Yeah, I was thinking of something more along those lines.
