Vampire Diaries 2.21-2.22

My reaction to the dreaded parts of the finale was about the same as my reaction to the end of ep 2.8: torn between being grossed out both at what was going on and the idea that it was supposed to be romantic, and laughing at the absurdity of the dialogue and emo. (Look, there are certain kinds of emo that I devour, and the rest either bores or ( Read more... )

There is a tiny part of me hoping that maybe, just maybe, the writers will use this near death experience to actually move Damon forward. I mean, he did admit he deserves to die (I'm ignoring Elena's countering).

I'm never going to like him, but if I could perhaps not be sent into rage every time he's on my screen...

Oh who am I kidding, that's never going to happen.

It also finally got back to how he WANTED to be a vampire, something it's been trying to make us forget for a season and a half.

Not that i expect that to be remembered. Especially since they also said that Stefan forced him to be a vampire.

The more this show tries to push Elena/Damon on me, the more it ends up convincing me that Damon is in love with Katherine and his thing for Elena is all about trying to alternatively control her or punish her for what Katherine did. I mean...that's the only thing that explains that level of abuse? Also, I would hate Damon a lot less if Katherine/Damon was what the show was selling to me, and getting abused and rejected by Katherine for an eternity was his punishment redemption.

Right now, I'm mostly...just worried about Faye and Diana/Cassie and how that's going to be ruined. Because you know that it will be. Sigh.

ITA re: Katherine/Damon/Elena.

Secret Circle promos look promising, but I'm side eying them for making Adam so very prominent and clearly not nicely out of the way for the first 3rd of the story.

Also, I’m pretty sure that the finale was supposed to convince me that Damon loves Elena and only Elena? But, IMO, it only made it even more obvious that she’s nothing but a replacement Katherine who he can control.THIS. Just...so very, very much ( ... )

SO MUCH POINTLESS THAT. That she show things is necessary and important. Because it's women and POC, of course.

I think the show actually did a good job showing the damage with Jeremy in S1, but it's almost like they went "well, he basically attempted suicide, and was cured." Except, actually, the way things played out, it was Damon murdering him that turned him around, which is almost too gross for words re: the show and messages.

The finale already reached my limit with Stefan, I think.

I think the writing of the last two episodes was absolutely atrocious. I pretty much hated everything to do with the Klaus plot. The sacrifice scene was disgusting. I was very disappointed ( ... )

Most of the last 2 episodes was disgusting. The sacrifice just a bit more so.

The last episode made a LOT of deaths even more unnecessary than they already were. Particularly even further reducing rose's existence to nothing but a thing for Damon to angst over.
