Today I spent THE ENTIRE DAY trudging through the “I sparkle in the sun!” scene and the “I break into your room while you’re sleeping!” scene. Actually, not through with the latter yet. I think so much could have been done with the idea of a sexually repressed male vampire. UNHEARD OF! But this is Steph Meyer we're talking about, so of course all potential is squandered.

Meyer did have an interesting thought there about Edward and how he tends to think in terms of 1917 (or whenever it was that he died). Except that even in 1917, plenty of guys were horny interested in sex.

And she touched here and there about how the other vampires seemed a bit old fashioned now and then. (Although Bram Stoker did that in Dracula, didn't he?)

As said above, Meyer squandered the idea.

My initial response to diamond skin: "Hey, Edward, could you help me sharpen my kitchen knives? Yeah, just run 'em along your arm or something."

Also, is it just me or would things be SO MUCH EASIER for them if they just tried a little bondage? Strap Edward down so he couldn't hurt her, let Bella have her wicked way with him.
