After hemming and hawing and fidgetting over whether or not to actually use the money from my tax refund to get a netbook to still get a netbook, I saw Acer Aspires on sale at Wal-Mart for $198 yesterday and caved in. It needs a name. Uhm...everything else is named for Princess Tutu characters (Ahiru-MP3 player, Kraehe-laptop, Fakir-99.9% retired ( Read more... )

Name your netbook Autor! It is creative, but not quite as creative and powerful as your ancient PC Fakir and your current laptop Kraehe, and it's not quite sure whether it wants to be Fakir or it wants to date Kraehe.

My love for the retro image won out over the practical desire for pockets and a strap.

YMMV, but I've found I actually use my bare-bones netbook sleeves much more often than the real bells-and-whistles netbook bag with a shoulder strap and a squillion pockets. Using the bag means I either have to transfer all my junk from whatever bag I carried last or carry two bags, with the sleeves I can just throw it into any regular totebag or purse it'll fit into and it's adequately protected from bumps and scrapes. The sleeve with a pocket on the outside is handy if I'm going to be out long enough to need to plug in, but for just an hour or two hanging out in a cafe, I'll leave the cords at home and use the less-bulky pocketless sleeve

Yeah. This is basically my travel/"I don't wanna be in my apt but I want my internet" book, so basically, I just need something for the cord, my earphones, and my flashdrive.

I think I've read The Lord of the Night. Is that the one set in Venice where the girl is an artist/courtesan-in-training?

Yup! Uhm...I looked at the packaging and not the publication date when i snagged it. For a 1993 historical romance novel, it's positvely enlightened. For 1993 historical romances.

Yeah...

I remember enjoying it back when I was about 14-15 because it was so different from all the other historical romance novels. Not too sure how I'd feel about it now. Come to think of it I may have a copy floating around on my bookshelves somewhere. I keep picking up old favourites and then being bitterly disappointed.

I have this set of old school romances written by men that I keep meaning to read. My mother gave them to me for Christmas one year and they sound positively horrid but it'd be interesting to see just how misogynistic they are. I think they're from the 1920s or something
