Jeebus, that is the weirdest way of exiling the youth of their culture--"we know you're going to turn into werewolves BUT WE WON'T TELL YOU HAHAHAHAHA"
Your recap is much more entertaining!! Thank you for the sparkly giggles.
One of my pet peeves with the books (and the author because she can't write even if she had to save her life) are the gender and racial issues. When I heard she was a Mormon the puzzle pieces all fell into the right places but still rubbed me the wrong way ... hence I stopped reading the series. Esp. as I have a professional hatred towards the editor of the books ... s/he is selling out!!! If I had gotten that manuscript onto my desk, I'd have sent it back posthaste. The worst thing is ... the skill or art of editing is to subtly edit and stay true to the author's voice ... in Meyer's books - if you know what you are looking for - you can actually pick out the edited parts. That is such a load oaf crap. But evidently sparkly, dysfunctional vampires and violent youthful werewolfies seem to be the rage with women of all ages ... here is to the brainwashing of mass media.
I kind of think that, as it gets less acceptable for certain behaviors to be in evidence for male romantic leads, people find ways to get around that, the main one being to make it so that the guy is someone to whom the "normal" rules don't/can't apply. Hence, the vampire boyfriend/woobie.
Nothing of substance to say, just that I enjoy these posts, it's nice to see someone discuss Twilight series in both a humorous and critical way. I think Cleolinda did that too but her posts were longer and more numerous and so I could not keep up at all lol. Plus you have less tolerance for the Unfortunate Implications in the books which I appreciate.
