Seriously? "They" let the werewolves transform and rip faces off because warning them is...what? Too much trouble? These books get more repulsive the more I hear.

Yeah. Like, this is a piece of fail that I didn't know about? And it's, like, steadily increasing horror and absolutely no one in the book sees any problem with that, and I'm all "Fandom! Why did you not warn me about this! You warned me about the gender stuff and I'm quite grateful, but the racial parts are just as bad! Maybe worse!"

Try looking through the tags on deadbrowalking -- the more recent entries are mostly movie-related, but there's some writing on the books' many racial issues if you dig far back enough: this post is a good place to start from.

... I wish I'd just read this summary instead of the actual book. (The book was actually kind of hilarious if you looked at it from a certain angle, but oh my god.)

By the way, minisinoo does some really interesting meta regarding natives in the Twilight series here, if you're interested.

Paraphrasing the dialogue is certainly more entertaining than the book.

I'll check those out.

Wow, this all sounds amazingly horrible. Especially the "it's so hard being a violent domestic abuser, boohoo" and the "rich white men hunting violent young POC-men." Also I have a hard time believing that Romeo and Juliet's love was epic and eternal considering that they knew each other for all of three days. Also also, you are far from the only one who has noticed that Alice and Bella seem to be rather, um, fond of one another. *wiggly eyebrows*

So far Alice/Bella is the healthiest potential romantic relationship in sight. (For Bella. I think Alice actually is paired with someone else in canon? Or it may just be a popular fandom ship.) I mean, really, literally cuddling Bella in her lap... (I almost want to see if that's in the movie, but not enough to, uhm, watch...)

No, she is. They've all got like, vampire soulmates.

I think Alice is boning Jasper? Though I know nothing about the healthiness level of that relationship. I do know that Jasper flips out at one point and almost eats Bella when she accidentally cuts her finger, though that might have just been in the movie. (I watched the Rifftrax highlights on Youtube.)

I watched the movie for New Moon and that Emily thing was pretty... yeah.

She is also notably the passive housewife with no autonomy or personality of her own.

*uses icon of way awesome Emily in a different supernatural story of vampiric love*
