Castle Season 1, Chuck Season 2

If ever I doubted that Nathan Fillon only ever really played one character (said character pretty much being Nathan Fillon) Castle would have removed that doubt. Thankfully, I rather like Nathan Fillon as he plays the same guy in new situations, over and over. Though I normally don’t like the character type?

Anyway, this series seems designed to ( Read more... )

I found that Castle made me like it despite the fact that its not my usual sort of show. Chuck I want to like, and on the whole I do like, but every so often the plot just lets me down and it begins to feel repetitive towards the middle of each season.

I did however laugh so hard at Bruce Boxleitner (and jumped up and down on the couch)

Oh I did so enjoy that series as a little kid. That was partly behind my squeal when he joined Babylon 5.

I must see if I can get Scarecrow and Mrs. King on DVD... *runs off to investigate*

It just came out in the US a few weeks ago. I have it, but haven't started it yet.

I think Castle's the only procedural where I've seen a police character do paperwork. Of course, they don't do it at the end of each episode but they do have at least SOME of that very dull police procedure stuff.

It's just mostly really entertaining and nicely written. My expectations were somewhat low because I thought it wasn't too popular & was under threat of cancellation but I was definitely very positively surprised.

I've seen them do paperwork in Criminal Intent and NCIS (not all that often, and in the latter case, it's usually in service to a joke). They used to do it in Inspector Morse, but I'm not sure that counts as a procedural. Come to think of it, Touching Evil had paperwork, too.

I thought it was popular? May just be with my f=list, though.

I recently watched Castle Season One, and once I got over how utterly flippant he was toward tragedy, I enjoyed it.

I think he gets better about that later in the season? But yes, man doesn't seem to quite realize he isn't dealing in fiction there. Which is part of why I'm withholding judgment about prying into Beckett's past. Because, while irritating and with the potential to go wrong, I think it's going to take someone he actually cares about getting seriously pissed at him over it for him to really Get It.

Nathan Fillon even ends up playing Nathan Fillon in his minute-long scene in Saving Private Ryan. ;D

He even did it as an evil priest. Awkward.

We made it through season one of Castle pretty fast. And I do think there are... issues, but they're not as bad as, say, NCIS or half a dozen of the other shows out there that pull the 'sexism in the workplace' crap.

Also, the show has three rather amazing women, so.

Yeah. Nowhere near perfect (and I think someone of the staff has a vendetta against blondes), but way better than a lot of what's out there. And I may love it forever for the handling of Meredith and Margaret, who would normally be raosted as OMG WORST MOTHERS EVER.
