So, the last 3 books I read?

ZOMG! Holocaust and dead grandmother!

ZOMG! Dying of Werners!

ZOMG! Domestic abuse!

I also read some of ZOMG!  300 page letter to comatose daughter!  That one is Paula by Isabel Allende.  It's they second book of Allende's that I've tried, but while I really like her writing, something keeps me from being able to get into

If you're interested in sort of cheery books (or at least not completely depressing ones), I recommend starting up the Harry Potter series. I'm very curious to know what you think of it. ^_^

when I need a good cheerful read that costs no money, I usually go for either fanfic or doujinshi(fancomics), but I dunno if that would be something you'd enjoy (since finding good fanfic/fancomics is a very hard task >.>)

And you've hit on why I spent years after college shunning almost anything that could be called Real Literature. (Though I do highly rec ZOMG! Domestic Abuse!, which hasn't been released yet.)
