Well that just sucks...

From time to time when I have nothing better to do I happen to enjoy listening and watching to AMV's on youtube.

Do you have a source for this?

I read the article, and you seem to be misinterpreting it.

First off, this is making it a felony to stream copyrighted live content over the internet. Therefore, the streaming sites themselves would be held responsible, not the content uploaders. Also, I'm not sure what they mean by "live stream". Like, this only covers running your own personal internet radio station?

Second, it's only prosecutable if you personally, from your own domain, stream 10 things within 180, not have 10 viewers.

This seems more targeted at pirate websites that host streaming movies or music, not individual uploaders to a public site like YouTube.

I was watching this video about it and I got most of the info from that. Like I said, I am probably missing out on alot. So what your saying is that we wont get in trouble for uploading videos with copyright music? I know, I am slow hehe its 1am and I am so tired its unreal. What do you mean by 'it's only prosecutable if you personally, from your own domain, stream 10 things within 180' ? Sorry for all the questions :)

WHAT?!!? Ok, I'm off to research some shit, for serious because that, THAT friends is CLEAR VIOLATION of our rights under terms of use!

Apologies, I am rather foaming at the mouth. See, I don't make youtube videos, but I'm a fan artist, and it is not a far step between making youtube videos containing copyrighted materials illegal and the illegalization of other depictions of copyrighted materials, ie my art. And you know what? Most of those youtube videos took time and talent to make, they weren't just thrown together! Doesn't the work count for something?

Plus this violates my rights. Yeah, I get it the corporations have rights, but not at the expense of the people of America.

The only thing that makes calms me down about this is the fact its ludicrous. Best of luck, oh youtube, finding and charging all of those individuals!

I was completely sickened when I found out and then I got pissed. Me and Missy have just got our mep group together and now this comes along and spoils the fun.

I know abit about the terms of use but I havent fully read it. I know that we have to make a disclaimer and stuff. But editors make no profit, I make no profit, you make no profit. We just do it for fun because we find enjoyment out of it. I love making videos, I have gotten addicted to them and I know you love being an artist.
Alot of this fanvideos on youtube are just freaking incredable! It would take me weeks to do something that those editors would do in a few hours. I dont know if its global or just America. But its depressing to think no more fanvideos and no more meps. I wonder if this law is passed, will youutube set out to delete every single video (and fanvideo) that has music in it?

This isn't YouTube's doing. This is the "Protect IP Act," which was proposed by three senators and is basically another attempt (at least the third) by media providing companies (the recording industry, movie industry, etc.) to cut down on "rampant piracy." If you want to give yourself a major headache, try reading the text of the actual bill. The government of this country has seriously become a tool of money-hungry corporations. :(

I hate those 3 senators with every bone in my body!
I wouldnt mind reading the bill. I just wanna see what shit they came up with.
I wonder is it gloabal or just America? I hope it wont be global. Every editors hard work will go down the drain.
Its just a really sad thought. Stupid copyright stuff!

The truly sad part of all this copyright idiocy is that ultimately, it is corporations who profit from these laws, not the people who actually did the creative work, without which there would be nothing to copyright. If you read the whole bill, they WANT to make it have global repercussions, but ultimately, they can't enforce them outside the US unless the country in question cooperates. As someone who has created original novels, songs, symphonies, etc. I despise what the greed of a few people has done as the result of distorting the original intents and provisions for copyright in the US constitution. It was always meant for things to go into public domain and thus become a part of our cultural heritage and folklore, to be built upon and inspire further creativity. Corporations, especially Disney under the Eisner Dynasty, has destroyed that, and turned everything into properties for eternal profit. They don't ever want copyright to lapse, they want it to always belong to a company rather than an individual or their heirs, and ( ... )
