Mentedor gets his Flamenco on

Jul 18, 2012 22:02

I got a watercolor sketchbook for my birthday a while back, and have been feeling intimidated by that first blank page of an entirely blank book. But then atom_u_b00t posted an awesome picture of El Mentedor, and I had to play with the fun costume design. Plus the idea of Mentedor doing sexy flamenco dance moves wouldn't get out of my head. :)

So here's murasaki_yugata's ( Read more... )

His eyes also look more blue than green...

Oh, well all the same it is a wonderful pic of Megamind being Megamind.

Any word on that teaching job?

Yeah, I totally used the wrong shade of green for his eyes. >_< I'm not really good at mixing colors yet, and they came out kinda.. teal. And once it's on there it doesn't really come off, and you can't go over it with something else without turning it icky brown, so.. Teal it is. :/

I'm glad you like the rest of it. I have a ways to go with watercolors. But it was fun practice.

Ugh, the teaching job. No, it still eludes me. :( Still trying. Here's hoping. :(

Actually... if you go over just the irises with a lemon yellow, using very little water (practically dry-brush) and a tiny brush, it should lighten them up and make them greener. So long as the page doesn't get saturated, and you use more paint than water, it's easy to touch up little spots like that. :)

Brilliant! I wouldn't have thought that would work. Thank you! :) I'm glad you know what you're doing, because I sure as hell don't. :P

Oh wow, this is wonderful! C: His expression is so happy and confident, I love it. I love the twist of his back and how it flows through the rest of his body, and his hand is awesome! You even have the little blush on his cheek and years, so cute~

:D Thank you, hon! It took me a while to figure out how his body should bend, and I'm still not sure I got it 100%. But I'm so glad you like it. ^_^

Wow! He's got quite the moves! (Seems I can't look at this without a flamenco soundtrack in my head!) I love his body language and the look of sheer delight on his face. He's absolutely perfect!

I think any iteration of Megamind is probably light on his feet and a relatively adept (or at least enthusiastic) dancer. ;) But yay! I'm so glad you like it. Thank you, Sharelle!

Ooooo!!! I love this drawing, it exudes such movement!! I haven't read this story, but after reading some of the comments about it, I believe I will. Sounds very intriguing!

You should definitely check the story out. It's really fun. But like Mur said, you should definitely read the first story, "The Successful Failures of El Mentedor" first so you have an idea what's going on. :)

I commented over on tumblr, but I just wanna reiterate how awesome this is! You did such an amazing job with his face, his body, his pose, and his costume.... And I like the background too. This whole thing is just so good!

I'm really glad you like it. There's always a bit of anxiety when I do fanart for someone's fic, because I'm always a bit nervous I'll get some detail wrong and really piss off the author. I'm so glad you like how it turned out. Thank you! :)
