He had to get out. Fresh air was necessary and he found that he found quite a bit of solace in being outdoors, now that no one was around to mock him, taunt him.
Except today is different, naturally. He saw her there, his mother - the woman who had been only a distant memory until very recently. And then suddenly he was swept up into what felt like her memory - and he stopped, staring in confusion.
"...Mother?" His voice was almost a whisper, his eyes wide as he stepped forward. Oh, no one was going to hurt her. No sir.
