I just taught a class of second graders with another teacher and they were absolutely horrible.  She taught them in English for most of the time and all they did was talk in little groups.  Even the kids in the front row.  It was ridiculous.  I don't know about where you went to school, but at mine, if you talked when the teacher was talking and

I remember having the same problem trying to teach Japanese teens while in the UK. They just went on chatting away whilst paying absolutely no attention to me. That combined with the fact they couldn't understand a single word I said(even though they were an upper intermediate class) meant that very little learning took place.

when i was a kid i mad teachers cry by doing exactly that, and I am extremely proud of it because most of them were dumbfucks!!!
