Living away from home for the first time was proving more difficult than Peter thought it would be. He had big dreams of freedom and being an adult, but when it came down to it he missed his bed, he missed home cooking, and he missed getting to see everyone for dinner. Including Nathan.

Fortunately, because he came from money he was able to get an ( Read more... )

"I didn't say that. It would be weird if you thought I was God." It was nice at times, though, he had to admit. But for the most part, he thought Peter could use to worship him a little less. That's probably how this whole damn thing started.

He pursed his lips, looking over at Peter, "That shirt happened to look nice on you. Next Christmas I'll get you a bib."

He felt his body come alive with heat when Nathan touched him. It was probably the ten-thousandth time his brother had done so in his life, and it was just as awesome as the first.

"Yeah?" Peter tucked his hair back too when he lifted his head. It didn't stay, of course. "Even if I'm a girly nurse in a few years?"

"Hey, you're girly anyway, what's the harm?" Nathan smirked, "Seriously, though. You got through school, you made it into college and you're out here, living your life. I know how shitty things were at home when I wasn't around."

He looked down, picking at his napkin. He always wanted to apologize, but he wasn't good at that sort of thing. "And you're doing what you want to do, even if it's... well, different."

Peter's smile fell away when Nathan mentioned how hard home had been. It was bitter sweet to leave that place, for sure. Peter suffered plentiful mental and physical abuse from Arthur who, luckily, wasn't around that much. Always working. Which meant Peter didn't have a dad ninety percent of the time, but when he did he had an abusive asshole of a dad.

That's why he'd always looked up to Nathan so very much. "Do you wish you could be doing something else?" Peter asked cautiously, hoping Nathan would open up to him.

Nathan paused at the question, then pulled his leg back, shaking his head, "No. Of course not. You know this is always what I was meant to do, ever since I was a teenager."

At some point he had wished he could have just stayed a fighter pilot. Or just fly jets around everywhere, for any kind of reason. He could go anywhere and do anything. He wondered what that kind of life would have been like.

"I like what I do. I'm good at it and it's going to take me far in life." It used to feel like more of a speech he had to say, but now he believed most of it.

Peter forced a little smile for his brother and nodded. It was a speech he'd heard many times, and it was getting old, because Peter could tell that deep down Nathan wished he could do something else...be something else.

"Good, then. I'm happy for you Nathan. You'll make a great President some day." His smile grew while he tried to comfort his big brother. "President Petrelli. It's got a badass ring to it."

That's what Nathan wanted to hear. It made all thoughts of whatever else he had wanted to be fade away.

"President Petrelli. It does, doesn't it. All these people in this restaurant are lucky to be dining with the future President," he grinned, straightening out his tie, "Are you going to call me 'sir'?"

"Oh my god, you wish." The only place he'd call Nathan 'sir' would be the bedroom during sexy playtime. Other than that Nathan could kiss his cute butt.

"You couldn't pay me to call you sir." With that, Peter stuck his tongue out at Nathan.

A moment later their waitress brought them their drinks; Nathan his diet soda and Peter his chocolate milkshake. Peter smiled sweetly at her because he'd noticed Nathan checking her out before, and he didn't want his brother to get all the action. She looked a bit flustered because they were both pretty damn hot, but Peter sealed the deal with a wink and that signature cute smile.
