[RL with Chuck-Touchy Feely Virus Day One

It wasn't the first time she had faked being sick. What with being a mediator she'd had to skip school more times than she could count. Besides, it didn't take much to convince her mother that she was sick. A few coughs and a moan of pain here or there and the deal was sealed ( Read more... )

Chuck was uncomfortable, and that was putting it mildly. He didn't like being stuffed under the bed, or hiding from Suze's mom. Of course, the alternative was worse, not to mention involved a lot of explaining. He just hoped he didn't sneeze due to any dust bunnies that might be sharing his current hidy hole.

He made a tiny strangled sound at Suze's words, he did not want to face the wrath of a mother today. The hand holding Suze's was definitely...sweaty.

Suze shook her head and rolled her eyes at Chuck's weak response. At least he was freaked out enough not to move.

Soon enough her mother walked in, knocking first, but not bothering for Suze to answer. "Susie, what are you still doing in bed?" she gasped and walked over to the bedside.

"I'm not feeling so well Mom..." Suze groaned and meekly looked up. She took a moment to plant a fake coughing fit.

Her mother reached down and placed her hand on Suze's forehead. "You do feel a little warm and you're pale...I guess that means no school for you today. Go back to sleep sweetie okay?"

"Mmm..." Suze muttered and closed her eyes, pretending to go back to sleep. Her mother made a few tsk, tsk noises and left the room, quietly closing the door behind her.

"See?" Suze said, opening her eyes again. "Told you it would be fine."

Chuck had been holding his breath through the entire dialogue, and when he heard the door shut, he let it all out in a whoosh. He inhaled deeply, grateful it went off without a hitch. Of course, that caused a loud sneeze, but since Suze was faking sick, it shouldn't cause her mom any issue. He hoped.

"Yeah. Fine. How do you get her to believe you? I never got out of it when I was younger."

"Bless you," Suze said with a smirk as she pulled off the covers with her free hand.

"I've been lying to my mom about things since I was two. Practice makes perfect after all."
