Thick of It and Who

So THERE WAS NEW THICK OF IT! (It's been three years! Three years! I shall be capslocking for a while yet over this). The production crew are pretty damn brave for having the show's three biggest characters sit out the first episode (in three years!), but if I can waiting three years for a new episode, I can wait another week for the fantastic ( Read more... )

She is freaking awesome! I've been to her mortuary temple - hell, I've squeed at her awesomeness in the very temple she built. I'm so proud of that.

True, Riddell as a sexist big game hunter deterred his likability, but it's easier if you consider that he is a product of the time period he come from AND nefertiti is going to throw him in that tent and teach him a thing or two about respect. Plus I love the roguish rascally pretty!

Yeah, it would be a lot less believable if he wasn't sexist given his time period, but I think I still would have like him more if we met him after Nefertiti threw him in that tent and taught him about respect (actually, that would have been kind of awesome, if he and Nefretiti were introduced as a couple with no explanation at all as to how the shacked up in the first place).

I can't remember a damn thing about Nefertiti (in fact, I keep wanting to call her Nefertari, one of the amazing characters from the webcomic Friendly Hostility), but HATSHEPSUT. (Incidentally, there was that episode of Friends where the girls kept glaring at the guys for implying women weren't as good as men and challenging them to name one thing only a man could be and Ross' terrified suggestion was "...king?" at which point I always got Nerd!Annoyance and screamed HATSHEPSUT!)

I wonder how much I'm expected to or will be able to care about Rory's dad, because I'm still kind of sitting there going "why can't we just have Amy's adorable parents back?"

*skips Thick of It stuff for after she's seen the episode*

Okay, finally watched The Thick of It: OH MY GOD, THAT WAS HILARIOUS. Okay, Peter's attempt to give a speech was actually really uncomfortable, even for this show, but other than that, LOOOOL. And I loved the new coalition people. I mean, they're dicks, but so is everyone else. I didn't know if this group could carry a whole episode, but I think they succeeded and I could totally watch them regularly (except for my being accustomed to the previous crew means the missing them pangs don't go away so it's like if they'd never existed, I could still totally buy into this show). And when did Phil become the most hilarious person in the room?

As much as I don't want to admit it, because I love them to pieces and they're just special, but if that episode is anything to go by, then the show would be just fine without Malcolm and Nicola - because it was freaking hilarious. I haven't laughed that hard at anything in ages. OH SHOW, I HAVE MISSED YOU SO MUCH.

The only thing that saddens me is if Glen is in the coalition does that mean no Glen&Olly next episode?! NO FAIR, THEY'RE THE BEST!
