I believe I met Nilmandra through you. What a wonderful person. She was an inspiration in so many ways. I wish a had just a bit of the strength I saw in her.
I'm only just on LJ today and was glad to see you. I don't think I've got my head around the news yet but you were one of the people I was thinking about the last few days. I hope you're doing ok. We all had the best of times, didn't we, back in the day? Hanging around on LJ and SoA. I loved Nilm and will forever think of her as my friend but I know there are a few of you who were particularly close to her so I just wanted to let you know you're in my thoughts.
They were the best of times. I've been thinking of you often as I re-read the old stories on SoA. If this is a sad occasion (it is for us even though Nilmandra wouldn't see it that way), at least it gives us the opportunity to share good memories with old friends.
Daw and Richard were able to attend the services yesterday since they're only about three hours drive from Nilmandra. I badly wanted to but I'm two hops away by air and with the short notice and the busiest travel day of the year I just couldn't get flight. Maybe daw will post about it.
I hope you are well and have a happy Christmas, Dot.
Hi Dot. I hope it's ok to take advantage of this opportunity to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Nilmandra loved Christmas so much. She's having the best of Christmases this year.
I was thinking about you too Meckinock. I'm glad you've posted and I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to go to the funeral. It would be impossible to fly at this time of year. think Nilmandra would be pleased that we are getting a chance to talk again though. :) I hope everything is going well for you.
It's so good to see you, Elliska. I regret not being in touch with you and all the old friends from SoA. I do think Nilmandra would be happy to give us occasion to get in touch again. I hope you have a Merry Christmas. I hope we (meaning me, mainly) can be better at staying in touch.
Nilmandra posted this on her 40th birthday in 2005:
Thank you to all who have sent me good wishes on my birthday today. My friends and family in real life have had great fun in proclaiming me officially Over The Hill, as this is the big 40. The age doesn't bother me, though, and I will proudly claim each birthday that comes along. I wouldn't go back in time, most certainly, and what lies ahead is the next adventure
( ... )
This is the amazing Nilmandra that I knew. It's the woman that made me so happy to see LJ updates, and made me admire her outlook, despite the war she fought with her physical decline. Don't know what else to say. Thank you for posting this.
