Deactivating my secrecy protocols may have been a mistake. Divulging information on my nature does not prompt panic and dangerous investigation, as I am informed it would in my world of origin, but it does cause undue confusion and surprise. I had believed that there was a mechanism in the City to translate everyone's speech. I am speaking Japanese, but I appear to have communicated with those speaking English, or another language.

Yes, for people who have accepted their situation in this place, the citizens often show puzzling surprise when confronted with some of the other entities they meet here.
