Name: earlwyn, also known as earlwyn [lower-case "e", doing e.e. cummings proud]
Team: Peace!

Let's talk about: earlwyn!

1. How long have you been writing fan fiction and/or making fan art and/or whatever else (vids, knitted goods, pornographic gingerbread cookies)?
If you don't count the horrendously bad self-insert Lord of the Rings script (it really was a script!) or the disturbing RPF I wrote about my friends and various teachers in high school (please, please let's not count that) then the first fic I wrote was back in 2004. Harry Potter, sort-of-accidental Remus/Sirius. I say sort-of-accidental because I hadn't consciously processed that I read them as totally, epically gay and in love with each other, and just figured that they were, you know, special. Ah, the mind of a young slasher!

2. Have you participated or are you participating in any other fandoms?
In the past, I wrote fic for Harry Potter, House, Life on Mars, Sherlock Holmes, and Iron Man. Currently, I seem to have been sucked into Torchwood against my better judgment. Otherwise, apart from SGA, you can find me dawdling around the sidelines of the Doctor Who and Pirates of the Caribbean fandoms.

3. What fanwork are you most proud of? Or, what is your favourite of your fanworks? (links, please!)
I'm really rather fond of this piece, which is pretty much because it's new, but also because it's Dalek Caan and cake and I laughed myself sick writing it.

4. As far as creative processes go, what type of writer/artist are you? Do you create an outline/find photo references/make maps, etc., or do you jump in and go with the flow?
I used to be far more go-with-the-flow as a writer, and proud of it, but within the past year I've transitioned to using outlines (obsessive-compulsively! it's like a sickness!) more than not, particularly for more substantial projects, and I can't seem to shake that habit. Sometimes I go so far as to colour-code my notes. Sad, but true. Send help.

5. Where can interested readers/viewers find more of your work? (homepage, LJ fic index, etc.)
All of my fic posted to my livejournal can (finally!) be found under my [fic] tag.

6. Do you write original fiction (poetry, screenplays)? Do you create original art (comics, photographs, quilts, wedding cakes)? Care to share?
I'm an actor, which I suppose could be considered original art, or another mode of transformative work, depending on how you view theatre. I sometimes fiddle around with original fiction, either plays or narratives, and had a bit of short-stories series being published in a magazine at one point.

7. How are you so awesome?
I built a reality-distortion-filter and use it at all times as part of my nefarious plan to take over the world. Secretly, I'm not that awesome but *wiggles fingers as air shimmers* you will never know...

Let's talk about: SGA!

8. What do you enjoy most about SGA and/or SGA fandom?
The people! Most def. SGA is the bestest fandom ever. I have never encountered such intelligent, creative, supportive, just generally awesome people in one fandom before. The show itself I love because it's just pure fun, coupled with these moments of intense, touching awesomeness, and -- really, really, okay, being bluntly honest -- John Sheppard. I spent a lot of the time wanting to scrawl JOHN in big block letters on buildings and then draw little squiggly hearts all around his name. JOHN. *draws tiny hearts*

9. Why do you ship McKay/Sheppard? What draws you to the pairing, what do you like and dislike? Favourite scenes or episodes? Quotes? Screencaps? What other SGA pairings do you ship?
I think -- I think, really, I was programmed to ship them? I got pimped into fandom for John/Rodney fic and then watched the show specifically to watch John and Rodney be Epic Gay Boyfriends in Space. (And then, you know, fell in love with it for a few other reasons as well. *kof*) So the idea of not shipping them is completely foreign to me. It's like trying to deny gravity. Why would you? They're Epic Gay Boyfriends in Space!

One of the things I absolutely adore about them is that really, deep down, they're good for each other. They bring out good things in each other. They don't just complement each other and get on well, but they make each other better. And I love that. It's one of those relationships that, however you want to read it, seems like it will be a staple for them for the rest of their lives. That kind of eternal is just. So epically COOL.

10. Why did you choose to join Team Peace?
About six months back, I was talking to a friend about what sort of stories we tell over and over and over again -- similar predicaments or plot points or themes, that sort of thing. I realized then that all the stories I want to tell are war stories. They're usually not set explicitly in wartime, but all the themes I draw on are themes you find in war stories. Team Peace is a chance to push myself outside the box, see if I have any other story I'd like to tell. (And it turns out, I do. *g*)

11. C'mon, you know you wanna! Just a bit of squee about your Match fic? [good example: 'very proud of my second scene' / bad example: 'When Rodney kisses John after they find out the butler did it'.]
The TALKING. I LOVE THE TALKING. (And I apologise for the capslock.) But I really just love the talking-bit. I mean, it's a specific bit, not just John and Rodney talking in general (though I do love that a fair amount), but I really, really just. *tiny spazz* Man. Talk-ing. So epic. I hope other people like it.

12. What are your 'tells'? How can a fic of yours be spotted in the wild? (again, go ahead and make origami out of the truth!)
Erm. I'm going to skip this question because anyone who knows anything about my story-kinks would be able to pick this fic out from a line-out with their eyes closed and one hand behind their back. Subtle, I am not.
