Team Angst is all about the good hurt. It's that space between tragedy and triumph: earned happiness-fought for and won, but not without consequences. It is the landscape of the sublime bittersweet, the ache just on the verge of becoming relief, love that burns both destructive and bright. So to this team I invite all you true romantics: those who believe that sacrificing something of yourself for someone you love is the noblest of actions, who find a vow to keep on fighting more satisfying than a happily ever after. Come here for the old fairy tales: where princes are rescued from the Snow Queen by love's warming kisses-but only after a quest of years and bloodied feet; where Orpheus fights to lead his Eurydice out of hell (and maybe this time he won't look back); where true love conquers all-but only after you give into the possibility that it might also conquer you.
So if you used to want nothing more than to die for love; if you used to clutch a favorite book to your breast and imagine yourself on a vast, windy moor; if you used to lie in the dark and watch old movies flicker across the screen, or listen to music and feel utterly swept away; well-welcome home.
Here at Team Angst we intend to have fun with our drama, including plenty of humor. We'll have book, movie, and music recs to keep everyone inspired, and hopefully this can be an enjoyable angsty wallow, the kind where everyone dries their eyes and shares Ben & Jerry's afterward. I hope you'll join us!
