Interview with a Dogwalker

Aug 02, 2011 17:51

Outside of several graphics projects, walking the dogs is about the most productive and consistent activity I've managed the past few weeks. O.o I haven't even caught up with everyone's interviews yet. Sorry, I will as soon as I finish my entry.

1. What was your first fandom? Smallville with Clark/Lex as my OTP. I haven't left that fandom, although I'm not very active in it now.

2. How did you get into writing fanfic/creating fanart? After I realized it wasn't just for kids (yeah, I know, silly me) I jumped into writing in SV, followed by my first efforts in fanart, then SGA. A million words in completed fics later, I still have a lot of stories to tell, although I'm writing a lot slower these days due to health issues.

3. Is SGA your main squeeze, or are you poly-fandom-ous? It's SGA and SV, although I've been known to create art outside of those fandoms when asked.

4. What makes John and Rodney such an inspiring couple for you? They're a wonderful odd couple that manages to fit. They're both smart and funny and appealing in different ways.

5. Who's your favorite, John or Rodney (or both)? How come? If you look at my icons and fanart, you'd think John was my favorite, but I really do love both of them. Why? Because I do.

6. Where can people find more of your work (McShep or otherwise)? Everything I've ever created is tagged at my LJ( http://danceswithgary.livejournal.com ) and mirrored at DW ( http://danceswithgary.dreamwidth.org ) with the master lists at the top. I also post all completed fic to AO3 ( http://archiveofourown.org/users/danceswithgary/works ).

7. Pick a piece/story of yours that stands out for you. Give us links and tell us why! I really hate being asked to pick just one because it changes depending on my mood. Right now, I'm torn between wanting to work on and ignoring the last few episodes of A Stop at Willoughby because that 'verse has been a happy place for over two years and I'm a little sad at the thought of writing the finale and letting it go. It started as a challenge entry for my own Twilight Zone comm and grew and became a series of vignettes/episodes that I could finish and walk away from for a bit, although I never meant to walk away quite so long for some.

8. Finish this sentence: John and Rodney walk into a bar... And Rodney walks back out again when he sees lime wedges on the bar.

9. What question do you wish we'd asked? "How do you break through writer's block?" because maybe then I'd have figured it out and finished my story. :-/
