Rock Sound coverstars talk us through their new record 'Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys'. Check back Friday for the second part of the feature.
I hear it a tiny bit in Vampires during and right after the chorus, before the next verse comes in? And I've always heard it in To The End - the sort of thrumming beat - and in Sharpest Lives there's an electronic beat as well, but I was afraid to mention it for ages for fear of fans yelling at me. XD
I think it's not so much dance-y as dance-y in comparison to their normal stuff... but I think you can hear a bit of the influence? :)
I dunno, those songs (well not Vampires as a whole, the part before the chorus you mentioned) definitely have 'bouncier' beats, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that they were attempted dance tracks. Especially lyrically. If anything on their older records was remotely close to dance on beat alone, I'd say it was Headfirst For Halos.
I mean, they wrote them, so who am I to say. But at the same time so much of what they've been saying lately has been so in contrast to everything they used to say, that I have to question. One or two things are going on: 1) That there are different people due to life changes now, but are trying to justify their new perspective and make it easier for fans to swallow by saying they were always like this, just not able to express it. Or 2) that this really is who they always were and they were phonies in the past.
Or maybe Frank was talking out of his ass. Or maybe I'm an idiot. Meh, it's just music, this is just a band, so either way it doesn't matter much :P
