I suspect it's not just the driving course that helped you get it, but also the simple fact that the goal of the UK system isn't to make you pay lots of money to the teachers by them bribing the examiners to fail you.
Gotta love fairly non-corrupt countries... (not that Oman is terribly corrupt, as standards of corruption go, but still...)
Thanks!! It's a huuge relief and weight off my shoulders.
Well to be honest I spent a lot more money on lessons and the tests here than I did in Oman. Also I failed in Oman because I just wasn't taught properly and lacked control. Short of paying a bribe, my dad and his friends used their contacts to even get a policeman to *teach* me, but I still failed. But I know what you mean...
Maybe it was a good thing not driving for a couple years between my last test in Oman and starting lessons here. I also had a reasonably good instructor who eventually ironed out all of my bad habits and techniques (the last of which were as recent as last Sunday's lesson!). I shudder to work out exactly how much the whole thing has cost here but it's in the region of RO 600. And around RO 1000 if you include all the lessons and tests I took in Oman. My licence has come at a price, but at least I have it now. And that means I can drive everybody else around for once. I can hear the sighs of relief and Alhamdulilahs ringing around the world at that! :P
