We are lucky in the UK to have free access to a government-funded local library network. Despite the swingeing cuts imposed by the coalition in the last parliament that forced the closure of hundreds of branches, they haven't disappeared completely. I decided not to vote tactically. So it was Brian Paddick (Lib Dems) & Siobhan Benita (Ind) for London Mayor, Dawn Barnes (Lib Dems) as Enfield & Haringey's London Assembly Constituency Member, and the Lib Dems for the additional London-wide Assembly Member lists.

It's nearly four years since I voted for the first time. We had to decide who should rule London and now that election is nearly upon us again. In 2008 I voted for Brian Paddick (Lib Dems) and Ken Livingstone (Labour) for Mayor and the Lib Dem candidates for the London Assembly. But the Tories swept into power with Boris Johnson as Mayor. Following the first snowfall of the winter, London woke up to a gorgeous white blanket yesterday morning. Having missed last winter's snowfall (while preparing for exams in Oman), there was no chance I'd miss out on capturing this weekend's main event. It pays to wake up early, esp on a Sunday!
