I believe that I mentioned that Spector would get the traditional award for turncoats?

But he's in the Senate, which is (as he stated) what's important to him. Good for him, bad for his constituents, worse for the country.

Should there be a cost (such as loss of committee seniority) to switching parties?

I can see possible advantages to this, though as a Democrat myself, I am disappointed to see this happen.

I think it's a pretty crappy reward for changing parties. I think that the argument that the seniority system is based on experience doesn't hold much ground if someone with his experience is treated worse than a freshman democrat and I think it's a waste of valuable experience.

He still has the experience. Maybe now we can see how he'll use it under adverse conditions.
