It's back - the one I love

Jan 14, 2009 18:54

I got my laptop back this afternoon. They had to replace a RAM chip, and that was all. I lost no data; my desktop looks exactly the same, and they upgraded my OS. Woot! There's also an icon for some data backup application called Time Machine; I'm assuming that it came with the upgrade, and it's not their cheeky little way of saying, "Hey, ( Read more... )

weather, computer, alpacas

Time Machine is pretty sweet (I don't have it yet but I've seen it in action), but yes, you do need a dedicated external hard drive. Once you have it though, it's "set it and forget it".

I have an older G3 PowerMac; I wonder if I can use that? I'll have to see how much room I have on the HD.

"set it and forget it"

Heh. Considering the state of my memory these days, I'd say I'll have the "forget it" portion down pat.

OH, I'm happy for your lap top. Time Machine is great. It was mildly expensive to buy, but now I can't loose anything.

It's cold here, too, but not THAT cold. The goats WANT out, but we have like two feet of snow, so there is nothing for them to do.

Do the goats like to run around in the snow? The alpacas really like it as long as it's not too deep. And if you make a big snow pile, the goats can play King of the Mountain :)

It really does help. Is the cold weather just getting to MA? (PS: I miss you)

Yeah, it reaches here tonight. I knew it was going to be bad when the cloud of crows were gathering early and the sky just gets "that look."
Someone on my flsit is in Antarctica so it helps me keep perspective.
I miss you too!
Good News: My crew at the lab is so good that I feel comfortable taking days off AND graduation is early :)

Yes, it's 12 degrees here in Southeastern Mass. Going to get colder, too. I started getting the entire BSG series from Netflix, and just watched the miniseries. How much I'd forgotten. Cannot wait for Friday. Love those alpacas. Hope they'll be fine in the cold. Pip's Mom

My horses are wrapped up like it's arctic out there; they have these big ole quilted blankets, and no real choice about wearing them, as they're *gonna* do it, if it harelips the pope, cuz I'm the mama, and I said. They don't fight it. Jester needs something new and cozy to wear!

Congrats on getting your 'puter back...mine keeps my lap warm when my lap's not fulla puppies!
