On the subject of shrubbery

I am so so behind on answering comments! Blame my new "get-shit-done" schedule. The last couple of days have been set aside mainly for applying for jobs, but tomorrow I will take a break to get some other stuff done and one of those "stuffs" will be answering my comments and maybe posting some de-anoned fest art ( Read more... )

One of my favourite songs :)

can we stop with the shaming of other people's choices over the matter? I prefer to look like a real woman rather than a pre-pubescent girl or a porn star,

I say this with love, but that IS classic shaming of other people's choices over the matter - if you shave/wax you look like a child or a porn star, not a "real" woman? C'mon. And I say this as someone who does nothing more than trim.

Yup, I know it's shaming, but it's my journal so you are on my turf. If I see a woman who's shaven I don't say a thing. But if she asks for my opinion, I will honestly say I don't think it looks good. For me it's more like not offering an unsolicited opinion, like so many people have done to me and my choices.

Yeah, fair enough. *shrugs* I only mentioned it cos you'd said you were anti-shaming right before.

It's just that I spend so much time in RL bitting my tongue not to mention my opinions that I want to be able to be completely honest here. And in any case it is not necessarily shaming to look like a porn star. You might want to look like one. Being one or looking like one is a perfectly valid choice and there is nothing wrong with it. What I disagree with is thinking that the average woman SHOULD look like that. (I use "should" to express an obligation, not the ability if she so pleases.)
