Akiha didn't bring more than a suitcase with her. The thought had crossed her mind to bring her tea set as well, but there wasn't an efficient way to transport that, as well as the concern for the acid rain as of late.

She didn't bring many personal possessions, mostly clothing and toiletries, as well as the tea she'd promised to bring. "I appreciate you going through this trouble for me, Teta."

There were people already who were in the house...how many was it now? Ajora, it seemed that the more she tried to count, the more seemed to appear...

But even so, she was happy. The more she was able to do for everyone else, the better...as a commoner, she was useless. A convenience. Nothing more than a speck on the dirt of the shoes of her betters, and she truly had no right to even be speaking to most of these people as an 'equal'. To be something more than what she was...to do something more than what she had once been able to...

It was more than she could ask for.

Teta had been arranging the various blankets and pillows around the house, trying to make some comfort for her family's guests when Akiha had spoken to her, and she turned, giving her a smile.

"Please, think not of it as any trouble. It is my pleasure."

"In a world like this, it's rather nice to meet others so kind from other... worlds. I don't think I'm quite sure how to address that term." Akiha sat to think on the term for a while.

As she thought on it, she watched Teta move about the house, taking care of this and that to help the other house guests. It reminded her of someone...

"Ah... Teta... You remind me of someone from home." And without a single hesitation, "One of my maids, Kohaku. She was always so cheerful while performing chores."

Maids...? Teta's shoulders stiffened a moment, but only a moment. She had no reason to...

So...she was right. Lady Akiha was...Akiha was much higher class. A noble girl, in her world. And Teta carried herself as a maid. A commoner...her commoner blood and status carried through.

Though...

In Ivalice, it was easy to be aggravated, but smile it off. The nobles were speaking with sneers, and cruel tones that were accompanied by crueler words. Everything was cruel about them.

But with Akiha...

...she was not saying it cruelly. There was no spite in her tone, or cruelty in her expression. She was not being condescending. It was casual, simple. As though she were speaking of a family member to a school friend.

Maybe that was what made it so heartbreaking. She truly did carry the commoner's air, even when...

"I suppose 'world' would be a proper term," Teta said, arranging a knickknack on one of the small tables. "And it is quite fascinating is it not? There are many things here that are completely unlike Ivalice."

He was warmer now, sitting off to the side staring at the floor. Most of all he was trying not to think of what he'd just did. He must have been crazy...

"Are...you feeling better, ser Snicket?"

Doing this was a good way of distracting herself, to be honest. The more chores she did, the more she helped the others...the more she didn't have to think about other things.

About home.

...Though in truth...

Working like this, it did sort of feel like home.

He smiles slightly as he looks up.

"Much better. I can not thank you enough for your hospitality. Do you need any help with anything?"

"Oh, please, think not of it. It...it is the least we can do, seeing as our home is in working condition..."

She smiles, tucking some hair back. It was odd, the strange 'shampoos' and such that allowed her hair to be as silky as it was now. It seemed as though it was custom-tailored to her hair, and it allowed for a good shine. But that was neither here nor there...

"But no, I am all right. Thank you very much, though."

Teta herself was not used to entertaining. She was only playing by ear, remembering the few times that her mother had entertained guests as a girl, and the lessons she had been taught in the Preparatory School about proper hostessing (though that was even pretty moot since the lessons were mostly about table setting and sending the servants to do all the work and care for the guests).

But such work was rather tiring after a while, when she spent enough time doing it.

She needed a break, and had wished to move to look out the window for a moment of silence and peace.

Only to...

"Oh! I am...I am sorry. I am not...I did not wish to bother you," She said, softly.

"'Making your head spin?'" She took a step closer, though did not glance at the work, that would be rude. "Are you working on something?"

He did say he was an 'engineer', and though she was familiar with the term as far as Ivalice goes, but in other worlds...did it have a different function?

Considering the number of guests, it was a good thing that Tifa was used to cooking for a lot of people. She decided the best way to handle all this was to treat it as though she was back in Seventh Heaven. So Tifa could mostly be found in the kitchen, cooking up quick and tasty dishes for her guests. And yes, it all smelt good. Tifa was an excellent cook.

If anyone wanted food, all they had to do was ask.

Food. If there was one thing she loved about living here, that was it. She wasn't sure how Tifa did it--it was as though it was magic...

Tifa touched food and it became amazing, rich, delicious. Something that...well. Something that far outshone anything Teta had ever eaten in Ivalice.

So of course, even Teta couldn't withstand the smells for long, poking her head inside and watching her 'mother' make her magic, curious eyes shimmering.

"I hope I am not interrupting..."

I don't know anything about cooking at all, so just pretend she's cooking something awesome heartofheaven November 10 2009, 23:10:21 UTC
Tifa glanced around and smiled when she saw Teta. "Nope! But I could do with a little help. Could you set the dining table?"

Works for me~ Not sure if the Dining table's close to the kitchen but um. ASSUMING IT IS. sekaiwayasashii November 10 2009, 23:55:07 UTC
"Certainly."

Teta moved towards one of the cupboards, gathering the plates little by little. It was always important to gather them a little bit at a time or else they would break...

And thus she set to work setting the table, gathering the plates, settings and other such things and setting them in a traditional Ivalician style, common to be shown at Noble banquets. She had found some cloth napkins and even made an attempt to fold them in that fancy rightside up manner that the nobles liked so much, but it didn't seem as refined as it was in the Beoulve household, when the elder servants did it...

Teta tried it a few more times until it was satisfactory.

"Ah...Tifa?"

An awkward pause.

"Thank you.
