If anyone wanted food, all they had to do was ask.

Tifa touched food and it became amazing, rich, delicious. Something that...well. Something that far outshone anything Teta had ever eaten in Ivalice.
So of course, even Teta couldn't withstand the smells for long, poking her head inside and watching her 'mother' make her magic, curious eyes shimmering.
"I hope I am not interrupting..."

Teta moved towards one of the cupboards, gathering the plates little by little. It was always important to gather them a little bit at a time or else they would break...
And thus she set to work setting the table, gathering the plates, settings and other such things and setting them in a traditional Ivalician style, common to be shown at Noble banquets. She had found some cloth napkins and even made an attempt to fold them in that fancy rightside up manner that the nobles liked so much, but it didn't seem as refined as it was in the Beoulve household, when the elder servants did it...
Teta tried it a few more times until it was satisfactory.
"Ah...Tifa?"
An awkward pause.
"Thank you.

Teta called her name, and Tifa turned, tucking back her hair as she did so.
"Thank you?" Tifa looked puzzled. "For what?"

But she was. She was very kind to her since arriving. Always there for her, and always gentle, but strong. Teta could only hope that she could become a woman like that someday, even though Ivalician women were not quite that sort...at least those who were not in the military.
...But...
"For...for being so kind to me, since I had arrived."
Not anyone would do that. She was common-born. Worthless. Useless.

She shrugged, trying to make light of it. "I'm just doing the decent thing. As long as you're here, you're my daughter. Even if it's not by choice... We have to help each other."

"This is true." Teta said, though the smile felt a bit forced.
She wished that it was the 'decent' thing where she lived to help. She wished that Ivalice had more good people like her. Everyone in Mayfield were so kind...this place was Hell, but the people in it made it bearable.
It even made her wish that Delita could come here...just to meet the people that she had met here, and see that not everyone was like the nobles in Ivalice.
"Though it is not a common thing for one to think that way; you possess a kind heart."

"So do you, Teta. Now, would you go and tell our guests that dinner is ready?"

A bright smile formed on her face, and Teta left the room with a bounce in her step.
They didn't go in uncomfortable territory. She was okay.
They were okay.
And so she left to let the guests know that food was, thus, ready.
