A bit slack

Yep, that's me right now. I did actually go for a walk around Lake Weerona the other morning, just nothing more. I went pedometer shopping yesterday...I'm surprised you could even do that but I did. I went to buy one after looking in 3 sports stores. I went back to the first and was about to buy one when I asked if I could look at it. I pulled it ( Read more... )

Mine Pedometer is a Yamax Digi-Walker that I bought from Dick Smiths. It's excellent. I've dropped it a couple of times and it's rock steady still. It measures stride that you preset. It also tells you kilojoules burnt.

Question: I was testing it waiting for a lift at the hospital the other day. It only measures one right foot step. Does this mean that the stride you measure should be two paces to equal the pedometer only ever measuring your right foot thump (or really it's the right hip bump)? I thought I was overestimating my foot paces anyway because realistically when your shuffling around at work etc, most of the time it's little steps not whopping great strides such as you'd be doing around the lake.

Anyway, I've been writing it onto my wall calendar at the end of every night and I'm over 70km. Not there at the mo so I can't be exact but there you go! The race is on! Haven't lost any weight though
. Just more aware of why my feet ache more on some days!

It might be that you're wearing the pedometer on your right hip and it's not registering the left step. Try wearing the pedometer in the middle and it should record all your steps.

70km sh*t, I better get moving!

As of tonight, 15th Feb, I've cracked the 100km mark! I moved the pedometer to the middle for a few days and correspondingly reset my step length and the number of steps doubled. Found it uncomfortable and made my tummy feel like it was sticking out more than it needed to so I measured two steps, repeatedly and found it to be about 1 metre, then moved the pedometer back to my hip. Much better and it stopped falling off too which is a good thing. I'm addicted to the damned thing. Goes on first thing in the morning and is last thing off at night which has probably helped to build up my distance.

I did Lake Stinkyweed today, which is about 1 hour 10 mins, 8000 steps and I don't know the distance, maybe 6 kms? This time my pedomoter actually worked, I was having the same problem as Tyg. (I'll try wearing it in the middle of me in future) I'd walk for 50 mins and get 2000 steps. *sigh* So I have been playing along, just not really keeping track. :)

You guys are doing so well!
