Temporary Insanity

Oct 27, 2007 18:49

Well, I think I have decided to become insane and participate in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month, for those of you who are not writers. Or live under a rock.). Jill talked me into it. So I've been thinking about what sort of story I would want to write, and be willing to spend a month and 50,000 words on. I want to start over in a world I' ( Read more... )

Oh, I'm very tempted. I found out about it last year, but things were just too crazy (work, classes, finishing the house, planning the big wedding party, more finishing the house).

However, this year, I'm going to be offline for most of the first part of November, which will make it difficult. Hmm. Must think about this.

Certainly, I'll be cheering you one when I get back, tho!

Yeah, I was tempted last year, too, but at that time I was writing lots of fanfic. Now, I haven't written seriously for many moons, except for shorties here and there, and I miss it so much. A month of intensive writing will be very, very good for me. (And maybe I'll even finish it!)

Heh, even if you double up in the last half November, that still might doable. Or just post everything you've written in the first half in a big chunk. I'd read it!

Regarding flash drives, this one is a pretty good deal. A 4GB flash drive for $24.95 is pretty good to start with; if you're new to Google Checkout you get $10 off, and you can send in a rebate for not taking the magazine for another $10 back.

Unfortunately by this point it wouldn't get to you before the start of November, and if you go for the free (slower) shipping mid-November actually looks rather likely. Well, actually my mom ordered it last week on Wednesday and had it show up on Friday or Saturday, but she was rather surprised. :P Still, I thought you might like to know, even if you get a different one quicker!

My gosh, I spent eighty dollars for a 1GB flash drive a couple years ago. Things change, eh? Twenty-five for 4GB! Amazing.

I was actually thinking of getting a just, like, 28MB one, because I've seen those for like fifteen dollars, and it'll just be text so that's all I need. But then, it was a couple of years ago when I saw that price, so they might not even make them that small anymore, huh?

Thanks for the tip. I'll probably make a Wal-Mart run this Tuesday. Or maybe Best Buy? I dunno, I haven't shopped for electronics for a long, long time.

I think for $15 you can get a 1GB now, even if they're not on sale. Although some of them are kind of flimsy in person, and presumably at least some of the higher-end brands are sturdier.
