Uh yum, that shake sounds and looks good! I hope the rash on your back goes away. I had a rash on my midsection for months and months (and months) that wouldn't go away for months and months despite steroids, changing all my personal care products, etc. The thing that finally did it was switching to this dead sea mud salt soap. Magic soap! It's ugly but I'm devoted to it.
Oh, really? That's interesting. I have sensitive skin--can't use dish soaps like Joy, can't use any sort of scented lotion or antiperspirant unless I want to be itchy and uncomfortable. I'm currently using a Dove body wash when I shower, but maybe something else would help.
Do you think I could use another milk substitute in that recipe? Soymilk and I don't get along so I've been drinking rice milk. It's thickness is more like skim milk than 2% milk. For the vanilla, do you mean vanilla extract? or vanilla ice cream? I need something healthy but fast to have for breakfast.
oh, I'm sorry for the confusion! :D Yes, it's vanilla extract, and I'm sure you could use any kind of milk that agrees with you. I have almond milk in the fridge and use that for my breakfast shakes, too. Even regular old cow milk, or just water. I like the taste of soy, though. Sorry it doesn't work with you.
You can do all kinds of fruit smoothies for a quick, healthy breakfast. You can use yogurt with a little water, or even just water, and any kind of fresh or frozen fruit. I've only recently started adding the spinach, because of my health issues. It doesn't taste bad at all mixed with strawberries and milk and vanilla, and makes pretty little green flecks in my pink shake.
Those cookies are low glycemic because of the unrefined sugars and high-fiber flours, but if you don't have blood sugar concerns you can always use 1 cup regular granulated sugar, 2 2/3 cup all-purpose flour, and 1 egg. Coconut flour is yummy and interesting, though. :) You can buy it on amazon, if nowhere else. I'm thinking of getting it from there next time, because the place I bought it from locally was pretty expensive.
Well, it doesn't have a very strong coconut flavor, especially when you mix it with other flours, but it's definitely different. If you really want to coconut-up a recipe, switch out any oils or shortening for coconut oil, and any cream or milk with the coconut equivalent. That'll do it. :D There's this pumpkin-coconut squares recipe I really wanna try that calls for that...
