There are a lot of reasons to hate the live-action Last Airbender movie, not least of which being the switcheroo of brown heroes and pale villain to pale heroes and brown ( Read more... )

the only reason i'm glad that this movie is so terrible, is that it practically ensures that there won't be another. and i would cry great big miyazaki tears if they touched/ruined/degraded Toph. her characterization was one of the most amazing and intriguing of the series, imho.

Oh, goodness, TOPH. Toph is my favorite. (Well, they are all my favorite, but you know.) Now there is an awesome character with believable flaws and a wonderful character arc. Gah, I love her.

And yes, I'm glad they won't get a chance to ruin her. SO GLAD.

Yeah, that part in the movie annoyed me. But, as much as I hate to defend that absolutely terrible movie, from my point of view, a lot of what the skipped over was because it's hard to get everything in an entire season into one movie. That isn't the reason I hate the movie. I hate the movie, and I can never say this enough, because you can't just go and change the way half of the main words of the story are prounounced, not if what you're adapting is a show that has been saying these exact same words over and over again, at least once an episode (Avatar, Aang, Sokka? ALL WORDS IN THE OPENING, GOSH DARNIT.) I don't know who the blame of that goes to, but I hope the get oodles of papercuts from all the hate mail they recieve. (Lolol, such a serious threat, no? But death threats are a bit harsh, or I would have said something much worse ( ... )

Huh. I just had a thought. Maybe looking at the movie as if it was sort of a Water Tribe version of that play in I-forgot-which-episode will make it sliiiiiiightly more bearable. Slightly. Not much. At least the got the position of the scar right (I still don't like it because it's barely noticable, but the side of the face is right.).

Oh, I loved the Ember Island Players. ;) So much meta commentary. And yeah, Sokka said it best, "But the effects were decent."

Prophetic, they were.

AMEN! I adore this show. It's funny and clever and sometimes literally heartbreaking. I still cry like a baby during certain episodes!

I can't believe they reduced Katara's role to such an extent! The fact that the show had so many kick-ass female characters was another reason I loved it so much! Its such a rare thing to find on tv these days.

siiiiiiigggh

so i don't follow this show but my sister is going crazy wanting to see the movie...eh.

personally though i love the song---in fact it was my favorite for a good 4 years or so. Superchick is an awesome band and i don't know about this version since it has different lyrics that i have NEVER heard, but i love the original song :)

you should check it out (One Girl Revolution- Battle Remix)

out of respect for this post i have found a video with the song that is relevant to Avatar: The Last Airbender
