When Castiel was being taunted by the Devil, I was taunting the Devil right back, all "Ha ha, your arguments are useless against Cas!" But when the boys actually got to the Devil and shot him, I thought for sure that they killed him and Cas would be the new enemy. It made me sad, very very sad, but I thought for sure the boys had got him. I was just as shocked as they seemed to be when he got back up. Oh, show, how can you do this to us? How are we so easily manipulated?

The first part of the episode (up to the explosion) reminded me very much of "The End", which was a neat foreshadowing, but the other part, especially as you laid it out here, really reminded me of Luke in the Emperor's Throne Room. I know this is totally unoriginal; Kripke (and everyone else) has been doing the Star Wars comparison since the beginning, but it felt so true. I just hope Sam escapes the Sith Lightning.

I don't think Lucifer is dumb, really, but I'm thinkin' he's probably gonna underestimate the Winchester brothers as so many before him has. So, yeah, maybe you're right. He is dumb... Never mind. :)
