Just because Emmett didn't sleep didn't mean he didn't need downtime. He just did it in different ways than humans did. For instance, instead of sleeping, sometimes he read. Which is what he was doing right now

There was a prissy little blonde entering Emmett's room without knocking at all.

"Dad, this place sucks. There are humans everywhere and poorly dressed ones at at that."

Emmett lowered his magazine and stared. And stared a bit more. Then, just for something new, stared a bit more.

"Can I help you?"

"This. Place. Sucks," Emmettalie said slowly. Sometimes Dad was slow. Mom always said that bear knocked out a lot of his sense.

"...did you call me Dad?" Emmett asked, finally catching up. He eyed the little girl. She looked kind of familiar. Also-- "Hey, you're dead!"
