"The Simpsons" The Milhouse gag WAS predictable but it was handled SO well. I loved the episode.
Family Guy: I think the thing that really bothered me was that this episode handled a touchy sunject so taslelessly. The whole Brian tries to rape Lois and Peter and Brian almost kill each other was played entirely for laughs when in a better show it would have created some pathos. The flawed characterization is why Brian always comes off as pathetic.
Herbert has been used to death on this show. He's not really funny anymore.
I also enjoyed the Simpsons. I think sometimes Nelson likes to hang with Bart, and sometimes with Jimbo and the other bullies. When Nelson is a bully, he'll pick on Bart, otherwise, he and Bart are close friends.
I liked the idea behind King of the Hill, that Hank isn't the type of guy to shop around and doesn't haggle, but he came off as too stupid and naive, which isn't Hank at all. I did love Peggy saying she has dirt on both Nancy and Minh, though.
I stopped caring about Brian a long time ago, about the time the show came back actually, and he hasn't done anything to win me over to his side. Not only has the plot in this episode been done before, but it was even sloppier this time around. At least there was a Jillian reference, but you know they're not going to put the Brian/Lois thing to bed, not if there's a good (or even not so good) joke they can make about it.
The Simpsons was great. I love that Bart and Nelson's relationship is so flexible too. A lot of fun.
FG: As much as I think the old episodes are overrated at least they didn't keep going back to the Brian/ Lois thing. One episode focused on it and that was it. The new episodes keep doing both cheap jokes about it and episodes that demean not only Brian but the entire premise of the relationship itself. I don't like thinking of Brian as a potential rapist. I don't think I can ever think of the character the same way again.
Well, Lois has ALWAYS been a skank. But Brian was supposed to be the moral center of the show. How can he POSSIBLY advise Peter not to do anything horrible after he tried to rape his wife?
The worst thing is that is was played for laughs. In a better show this could have actually been meaningful character development. In this show it was just demeaning.
