The kids had their (second) first day of school today. Aiden went the whole day and Aly was there for about an hour or so. During her school day, I got to go to a parents' meeting with her teacher and Aly & Co. got to ride a bus and talk about bus safety. Too bad she's one of the few that won't be riding the bus every day.

Our 9th anniversary celebration yesterday was decidedly low-key.  With yesterday being the kids' first day of school (pictures will be posted later today - promise!), Christy's adjustment to student teaching, and my new church responsibilities, we agreed that an elaborate evening would not be something we could pull off this year.

As mentioned earlier, DeAndre Thomas is a monster. He's reportedly slimmed down a little. Regardless of his weight, the guy is a freakin' Mac truck! He was, by far, Aiden's favorite player at the scrimmage last night. He should be fun to watch this season.

Now that I'm back online at home, I can post some of our recent pictures.  I'm sure you remember that we went to the Nature Center in Asheville a few weekends ago for one last excursion into the Blue Ridge Mountains.  The Western Carolina Nature Center had an aviary-like exhibit full of butterflies and moths.

Friday was Field Day at the kids' school.  I got to spend most of the day at the school with the kids, which was a pretty cool thing.  I remember Field Day at our school (I still swear it was 'Health Day' - can anyone confirm or deny this for me?) was a big deal, as it is at every school.  The highlight was always the water balloon toss for the 5th ( Read more... )
