Okay, it's become ABUNDANTLY clear that EVERY community I've ever posted in on LJ is probably going to be gone by the end of the month, so this is definitely the best time (unless I can go back in time and do this several years ago...) for me to finally start creating a backup account on DreamWidth.

- They will all port over, no problems.
- Yes.
- Complete journal entries will be backed up. The system will not backup your comments on any community, you will need to handle those yourself. Yes, it sucks, I know, I'm sorry.
- I would guess that communities that have a heavier basis in reality (like add_me, asperger, etc) and less toward things like fandoms and fun (like omgrandom, randomthought, etc) will be the first to go, unless the owners are adamant about not abandoning LJ. I don't know them all, so I can't really speak for them. I'm basing this off of patterns that I have seen so far. I hope this helps.

Not even if I start the transfer process before I have a paid account on DreamWidth? (I have 116* userpics and the default limit on DreamWidth is only 15 - will the transfer process replace 101 of my userpics with the default?)

By complete journal entries, though, do you mean even my entries in LJ communities? If so, that works out fine because my community entries are what I'm the most concerned about losing - I still have all my email notifications about comments even from back when I first joined LiveJournal, so I can reread old comments that way if nothing else. (Except for if I posted a comment and no one replied to it, but I'm not very concerned about losing those.)

If you upgrade your DW account prior to a Premier/Seed account, then you will have room for 250 icons. The next level down will only avail you room for 100 icons. I'm not sure what will happen to the other 101 icons. I imagine that they would go to /dev/null if you didn't have your account already upgraded.

No. It will only backup your complete journal. That ( ... )

I went ahead and upgraded my account before I started copying my entries over. And I finally saw in the FAQ that if I did exceed the limit by copying userpics over from LJ, only my default userpic would've been copied over until I redid the transfer after upgrading my account.
No. It will only backup your complete journal. That is, it will only backup matt1993. It will not backup any community because community accounts are not personal accounts. DW will backup a personal account. DW will backup a community, but ONLY if you are a maintainer or owner of said community. It is spelled out here: https://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse?faqid=230... )

(I don't remember what it is either. I'll check after I post this reply. If it only shows a few comments, click "Thread" to see all of them.)
EDIT: It was "I hope you get it all worked out".

Edit: You can set up cross-posting from DW to LJ, but since I did that years ago, I can't remember how to do it now.

I'm feeling pretty stressed out because there's still a lot I need to do if I want to make my DreamWidth journal look presentable, make it match my LJ as closely as possible, and/or have all of my community entries also be in it just in case those communities disappear like autism did recently, let alone all three.
I JUST got done editing both my LJ and DW profiles to reflect the fact that I'm now also on DW (and updating links to my LJ entries so that they go to LJ entries on my LJ profile and DW entries on my DW profile, just in case), but I still have a lot to do.
My to-do list right now:
- make http://matt1993.dreamwidth.org/278009.html a sticky post like its LJ counterpart (http://matt1993.livejournal.com/282623.html) is
- make sure that my LJ entries imported correctly
- manually copy over my entries from communities and their comments
And that's just what wasn't ( ... )
