Trash in the past, trash still today

That feeling when watching anything on TV and having to see the tons of advertising in commercial breaks and finding that they’re an accumulation of trash for the mind, designed with lots of distracting bright colors that call for your attention and empty suggestive messages, even direct unrealistic bullshit content (take the whole cosmetics and “ ( Read more... )

I think both the advertising industry and political donors have discovered that if you spend a small amount of money smartly, trying to convince others to buy/vote a certain way, then you can reap far more in profits. So, no, I don't think this will ever end. Some individuals might try to protect themselves from the bullshit, but most people will not or cannot.

Well, these days you have the advertising in classic media and you have advertising in the internet on top of it.
Commercials for classic media like TV seem to work the same way as they always did, while ads on the net work differently (also in a technical way and that way keeps changing over time - see that popups very much literally died out today).

Even though, looking at it from the aspect of information, it's all very much a chain of having to shake your head. A collage of trash. Annoying, throwing around stupid slogans, firing a feel-good feeling for which the reality doesn't exist anymore, making shallow appeals to you, exposing you to unrealistic suggestions, trying to draw money out of your pocket, and putting emphasis on so many trivial things that don't make the decisive change when living in a society...

I am watching all in Internet through my computer so I am using add block which my son has installed me years ago. Add block is cutting all the advertising which is not placed directly into the videos and even then I am scrolling through it when it is possible. ;)

I don't live any different in the internet because otherwise it would be completely unbearable. (And it saves resources wasted on displaying superfluous content.)

Though, if I have to get in touch with advertising - maybe also as a result of keeping ads away from me a lot on other media -, I start to realize some things about it again.
