From Social Butterfly to Social Scrooge

[Some thoughts I am tossing out there, probably a disjointed/weird post]

My online “life” has drastically changed since I first hopped on about 15 years ago (wow, has it really been 15 years?!). I used to be such a chatterbox back then, always hanging out in this chat room or that… I would often have 10-15 chat windows open at once and actually be ( Read more... )

Online relationships are tough. I met my husband via the internet. Then we met up at school because we went to the same school too. But still...lol. I have friendships that are strong on the net than in IRL as well, but IRL it's just hard for me to get out and coordinate with other people unfortunately. :/ So I do it online. But I don't have a million windows going on at once. more than two is actually overwhelming for me now. :/ But I used to be the same way. The only chatroom I hang out with now is my writing chatroom. Which if you are ever bored and wanting to talk to other writers, I can link you to it, but yeah. Funny how much the net has changed in such a short period of time!

I know what you mean. I too would have many windows open and talk to a lot of people and now it's pretty much reduced to *gasp* family chatting.

The online scenarium has changed a lot and its dynamics too, but I take a lot of pride in having meeting some really nice people, who are my IRL friends now, through internet.

The on-line world is difficult and has changed so much in such a short period of time.

Also having been with a guy perhaps you are cautious about falling for other men again? I notice a tendancy for some people to go online and play games to escape life. Maybe 10 years ago you did not have much a life compared for today. I stopped using LJ and interacting in Wow when I got married. Now I am slowly going online again but most people our age do not use IM like we did a decade ago. I am more mature and responsible.

This is normal for people in their 30s.

Weird,

Firefox totally cut that first half of my message in half. LOL

Basically I said you are getting older now and have a life compared to 10 years. It is perfectly normal process.
