What's the "cheater" version of Bm?

For me, I have luck on any of the barre chords based on the Am form.

Barre cords on A? Absolute bastards. I can't squinch the middle, ring and pinkie into them quick enough, and doing a double-jointed half-barre with the ring finger doesn't work. The minor form feels less cramped, and I can do B-minor, C-sharp-minor, whatever, all right.

I've had luck with the Em form of F-sharp minor (In Cohen's "One of Use Must Know") only by playing the bass first and then the higher parts of the chord, so I only fret what I need to, because I cannot get my hand across that thing whole.
