Dear Govt.

We haven't exactly been on good terms for some time now, but even so, please understand that if it gets to the point where I read a Mail on Sunday scare story entitled "Stasi HQ UK" and find myself agreeing with them against your actions? You're Doing It WrongSeriously, know any vegetarians? Or someone involved with a "foreigner"? How ( Read more... )

(Looks nervously around) what's wrong with vegetarians?

Vegetarians are increasingly being flagged because they're seen as strong potential Animal Rights Activists, and Animal Rights Activists are now seen as "Terrorists".

I kid you not.

I think your speech marks slipped. Lemme help:

"Animal Rights" activists are now seen as terrorists.

Apologies for the harshness of my redacted reply: I'm full to brimming with Teh Angry today.

Hmph. If I ever flew on an airline posh enough to serve meals I'd probably go for the vegetarian option out of sheer distrust for the meat. Then again, I've given up flying completely.

I'm assuming this is real genuine PANIC and not just the Fail knitting itself a shocking story by turning some harmless facts inside out?

Distrust of the safety of meat was one of my original reasons for going veggie anyway, our family had stopped earing beef way before the BSE news broke (Dad was a health inspector), and that's despite granddad being a beef farmer before he retired.

We don't know if it's completely genuine or not, the documents are 'leaked to the MoS', so it could just be hyperbole, but given the official suspicion of vegetarians (drjon's right above, USians in particular think it makes you a dodgy extremist), it wouldn't surprise me.

I'm not sure how exactly this relates, if the mail is just 9 months behind or not.

I'd forgotten that story. Remember it well though-there have been more than one attempt to get Carlisle's whip withdrawn for some of the crap he's pulling in his "reviews", I might have a word with Lord Shute again next I see him.

Looks related-this is a leaked document, shame the MoS hasn't put it online, they really ought to by now.

I'm vegetarian, and my girl comes from the largest and most dangerous terrorist country on the planet.

...I'm oddly proud of ticking so many boxes.

If we get a list of the things, mebbe we should compare em-I might get a few more due to my former job, I used to issue visa acceptance letters at the language school.

With full British Council support, but it still counts as "aiding someone to get a visa".

Oh my god. I'm a terrorist because I emigrated to the USA (on a one-way flight) and have a foreign-born (American, non-Christian) wife.

I shall turn myself in to the relevant authorities forthwith.

Noooo.

They'll put you in Gitmo. Or one of those DHS secret camps.

Heh, you read that the right leaning conspiraloons are now picking up on thse and saying they're an Obama plot, and regurgitating all that the lefty loons said about them when Dubbya was building them. Silly fules.
